Safe2Eat Food Safety Videos
Animation (Animate CC and After Effects), Design, Storyboarding, and Editing
LT Media Lab and I worked together on a series of food safety videos for the University of Minnesota’s Center for Public Health. The scripts were provided to me, and I was tasked with coming up with visuals to match, designing and storyboarding the animated videos, and of course, animating and editing the finished videos.
Multiplex: The Chosen One
Writing, Animation (Animate CC), and Editing
This animated short based on my comic strip, Multiplex, features its main characters, Kurt and Jason, discussing the Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof film, Tomorrowland.
Creative Problem Solving
Client: University of Minnesota–Twin Cities
Writing, Editing, and Animation (Flash/Animate CC and After Effects)
These five videos were made for a Creative Problem Solving class at the University of Minnesota that I helped develop with Dr. Brad Hokanson, as part of a research assistantship. The videos cover selected readings from Stephen Johnson's Where Good Ideas Come From. I wrote the videos and edited these together using a mix of existing footage and photography, original animations, and still frames (designed by me).
Videography and Editing
This short experimental film is a little rough around the edges, but I like the hypnotic feel of it. The sound design (an ultra-slowed-down animal scream) is one of my favorite elements.
Taking Steps Together
Client: Hennepin County Medical Center
This video was completed as part of Dr. Sauman Chu's Digital Illustration and Animation course at the University of Minnesota, for the Hennepin County Medical Center. Working with my teammates Ashley Johnson and Jennifer Hoeke, I edited the bulk of the video and crafted the narrative based on the clients' parameters, using the footage they provided. This rough cut set the tone and pace for the whole video, which went on to win a 2014 Student Design and Scholarship Excellence Award.
The Important of Being Earnest (excerpt)
Animation (Flash) and editing
This student project is an excerpt from Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, made for GDes 5383 Digital Illustration and Animation (University of Minnesota—Twin Cities).
Mobrity illustrations and animation design
Clients: Evolve Media and Visual World
Illustration and Storyboarding
Evolve Media and Visual World asked me to create the look and feel for “Oakville,” a fictional town where everyone uses QR codes and the Mobrity app. This project encompassed four animated videos, a huge map of downtown Oakville, and a boatload of smaller assets.
Plays of Light
Videography and Editing
This experimental short film was created for GDES8114 Graphic Design Studio, University of Minnesota—Twin Cities. Thanks to Miles Mercer for access to the Hollywood Theater and Earl Luckes for access to the Parkway Theater (and turning on the projector).
Editing and Motion Graphics
This is a student project that I edited from existing footage (documentaries and such), ostensibly as a PSA promoting non-fiction books, movies, and TV. I edited this, wrote the copy, and selected all of the footage and the music.
